There is not a simple one step process for returning students to public school after homeschooling, because each school system is different, each system has different requirements. The most common situation is when the public school wants to hold the student back and not promote them to the next grade because you did not use an ACCREDITED curriculum. Public schools are using the COMMON CORE curriculum throughout Alabama. It is our strong recomendation that you work with the guidence counselor at the school you are going to return to in order for the process to go smoothly as possible.

3. We recommend that you, as the parent/guardian, administer a CAT (California Achievement Test) to determine your childs placement at the end of each grade level. The CAT is a standardized test for grades k-12. We can not guarantee the school will accept the test and promote your student, but it would be a very helpful in determiniting their progress. Scores are mailed to you within 2 weeks of the date they receive your returned testing materials.
For parents with a degree you can administer the IOWA Test. Rosewood Academy also administers the IOWA test.
